Israeli occupying forces arrest 1,530 Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem since the beginning of this year

The Palestinian Prisoners Club revealed today that Israeli occupying forces have arrested 1,530 Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem since the beginning of this year. The club said in a press release that occupied Jerusalem has seen more than 16,900 arrests since 2015, including 2,784 cases last year and that there were children, women, the elderly and injured among the inmates.

The statement confirmed that Jerusalem has recorded the high percentage of arrest cases on a monthly basis, as the city witnesses strong confrontations with the occupation forces, including extensive assaults, especially the steady escalation of intrusions. carried out by the occupation army and settlers in Al-Aqsa Mosque, as the Israeli occupation continues its escalation of the systematic detention operation in Jerusalem since the popular uprising that erupted in late 2015.

Every hour, a new detention case is monitored, followed by constant attacks reaching gunfire and severe beatings, in an attempt to undermine the ongoing confrontation.

The statement asserts that the arrests in Jerusalem take on a particular nature in terms of the systematic practices to which detainees are exposed, as some Jerusalemites have been arrested 40 times in a few years, and most of them have either been released under certain conditions. conditions such as the imposition of financial fines, bail, being placed under house arrest and banished, especially from the Old City, including the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
