ANF | Revolutionary People’s War against the occupation in Rojava

The Turkish state signaled its readiness for a new all-out invasion attack on June 1, 2022.

The attacks of the Turkish state against Rojava are an attack against the struggle for existence of the Kurdish people. The 30 kilometers deep in Rojava that Turkey wants to occupy, and shown during the United Nations session, clearly indicated its agenda. The silence of the UN about this invasion plan also indicates the existence of forces actually supporting this plan.

Long-term preparation of people for war

Undoubtedly, the peoples of northern and eastern Syria took immediate action against this comprehensive invasion plan. They declared that they would not tolerate the occupation of new Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî, nor would they give Turkey the opportunity to go ahead with the plan. Great preparations are underway in the region as part of the People’s Revolutionary War. It means people are participating and waging war. The inspiration for this strategy, which was determined as a long-term people’s war in the past, was the Vietnamese and Chinese revolutions. In national liberation struggles like Algeria, the active participation of the people in the war, the end of the sovereignty of the occupier-colonial states and their victory in a long period of war made this strategy a basic strategy of struggle. for oppressed nations. . A colonial nation in a weak and unorganized position will ensure its organization during the long process of war and will protect its country. The colonial power will gradually weaken and the colonial nation can uproot the colonial power from the country with an uprising.

Dimensions of Revolutionary People’s War

The people’s war had several phases: strategic defense, strategic balance and strategic offensive.

People’s revolutionary war has several dimensions. These dimensions include the professional armed forces, the armed self-defense forces and the people. The countryside, and perhaps more so, the urban centers are the places where the people’s revolutionary war will be concentrated and waged. Here, the professional armed forces, the self-defense force and the people wage war together and in coordination. While professional armed forces deliver effective blows to the enemy, self-defense forces participate in the war by striking the enemy in unexpected places behind the front lines. With the active participation of the people, the enemy is defeated. Success is achieved by ensuring the participation of the people. Eliminating the inability to keep people out of war in past processes is the fundamental approach of revolutionary people’s war.

Everyone is involved, from traders to doctors

Treating the people as a separate dimension should not mean treating them as if they were separate from the armed forces and self-defense forces. In fact, these forces are those that come out of people’s hearts. However, armed forces such as the YPG-YPJ are all-time professional forces. They have no other activity. There are also semi-professional self-defense forces like HPC. Alongside their own work, they participate in the defense of the people. The general mass is at work, at home, in education, at the official’s office, in the workplace, in the fields, but it participates in the revolutionary people’s war without interrupting its work. This is where their strength comes from.

The effect of 40 years of guerrilla resistance

Guerrilla warfare has been waged in Kurdistan for almost 40 years. A highly effective guerrilla army was assembled. It was also true that a limited part of the people participated in this war as a “militia”. There are also experiences in the process of self-management. This process was mainly led by young people and professional armed forces. There has not been direct and sufficient public participation in this process. The people expected the guerrillas, who were “their own children”, from their armed forces to defeat the enemy.

A revolution has also taken place in Rojava. Almost all the cities of Rojava have been removed from the control of the Syrian regime and the people themselves have assumed their administration. We have seen with what enthusiasm the people participated in the revolution and their place in the efforts to defend the country against Daesh.
